Notice the root flare on the downhill side of the tree. The seasonal creek bottom is about 50' to the right of this pic. This buttswell makes measuring the diameter of these trees a less than precise operation. They were about 200 inches in circumference measured at a point about 6 feet above the ground. This puts them in the 15-20' diameter range.
